I suggest you ...

"Lock" documents after assignment has been graded and returned

A document should be locked for editing after a teacher grades and returns it. Students should not be able to delete or change anything after it has been graded and returned.

I agree. I wish that a student could not delete an assignment after I have graded and returned it. I want to be able to look back at their written work plus my comments on it, later in semester.

I like this suggestion below: Rather than a lock, a duplicate copy should be returned to the student with the original being stored safely in the teachers area. That way a student can correct the work but the original is kept unaltered by the teacher.

Yes it should be lock but only after I have closed the assignment. That way student can make changes to an assignments if needed.

Yes, once submitted, all assignments should be locked from student changes.

Lock document after it's been closed AND allow teachers to keep an original copy and/or a copy with feedback before they send it back to the student.

Students can delete assignments after Grading. An update on this would be appreciated.

Please update us on the status of this issue. It is a major concern for our district.

Any status update on this would be appreciated. This "bug" is currently a showstopper for us, to implement classroom

Is there a status update on this? Not being able to lock is a huge issue for assignment submission.

One solution that could solve this, as well as solving the 'students can continue editing after submission bug' is:

    1) When an assignment is created, a corresponding folder is created in the Classroom files tab

    2) Subfolders for each student are created with 'edit' access given to the student for their folder. The teacher has edit access to all folders. (i.e. Johnny can only edit/see his folder's contents, the teacher can see and markup Johnny's work as he works on it)

    3) When a student submits their work the folder is set to 'read only' for the student and continues to be 'edit' for the teacher (Johnny can no longer edit his work and the teacher still has rights to edit/markup/comment on the student work).

Need to lock the content submitted in Classroom after submittal. Students can still make changes, even after the teacher grades the document. A student might say they did it correctly and there is no original record?

  • Scott Letts commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

What I would like to see is in the Files tab:

    Assignments folder
    -- Assignment Name
    ---- Student 1
    ---- Student 2
    ---- Student 3

    i.e.

    Assignments
    -- History Oral
    ---- James Graham
    ---- Daniel Gray

That way the teacher can easily keep a record of the student's assignments from year to year (a requirement for many schools)

At the moment the assignments feature can't be used for the majority of schools.

Yes - this is needed! At the moment a student can continually edit it.

Either create the functionality that when they submit their assignment it is uploaded to the SharePoint/Groups files (preferred), or change the permissions in the OneDrive (messy?)
